Palestinian paramedic Tarek Rabie Safi, recently released as part of a ceasefire deal, has reported severe mistreatment by Israeli authorities, including physical abuse, food and water deprivation, and denial of medical care.
Safi, who was held at Sde Teiman prison, says his cellmate, Mussab Haniyeh, died due to the harsh conditions.
“There was no proper food, no proper water, and no medical care. My hand was broken, yet they didn’t treat me or take me to a doctor.” Safi said.
Palestinian rights groups have condemned what they describe as systematic abuses in Israeli detention centres, with Amnesty International previously documenting similar testimonies from former Palestinian prisoners.
