Hunger strikes by seven Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails in protest at their conditions continue after 30 days.

The prisoners are held under Israel’s administrative detention policy which allows authorities to detain Palestinians without trial indefinitely. The Prisoners’ and Former Prisoners’ Affairs Committee says the health condition of the prisoners who are kept in solitary confinement is deteriorating. They have lost significant weight and are not capable of moving or standing up. The committee added that holding the hunger strikers in solidarity confinement is aimed at breaking their will to continue the protest. Palestinians have been calling on the international community to pressure the Israeli regime to end what they call cruel and inhumane administrative detention.
